plant

Çil is editor and editor of the books Beginnings of an Era (2003) and End of an Era (2006), which give Turkish first-generation migrant workers and their descendants the chance to tell their personal immigration story.

Among other things, Çil is concerned with breaking the taboo of talking about recruitment and recruitment procedures: "These people were examined in groups, selected and their feelings of shame injured", Çil describes facts that are hardly known in Germany as in Turkey. The fact that such inhumane approaches in connection with the recruitment are hardly discussed is due to a. also to those affected, who on the one hand remain silent out of shame, but often also due to insufficient knowledge of the German language, are not able to contribute to coming to terms with this period of history, which is also in Turkey in the dark (Çil: "nothing has simply been kept") . With his bilingual works, Çil wants to give these people a voice.

That the

Immigration to Germany brought an extreme change in cultural, religious and linguistic terms for the emigrants from Turkey and this more or less successful coping must be viewed as a masterpiece

is another concern that the author cares about with his books.

While the beginning of an epoch only contains original reports from the first Turkish labor migrants in Germany, Çil had the life and death of these people portrayed from the perspective of their descendants at the end of an epoch .
