Hasan Memişoğlu

Hasan Memişoğlu (* 1949 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish Lieutenant General of the Army (Türk Kara Kuvvetleri) and economic manager who, among other things, was the commander of the KTBK (Kıbrıs Türk Barış Kuvvetleri) occupation forces in Cyprus between 2004 and 2006 .

Life

Memişoğlu completed an officer training at the Army School ( Kara Harp Okulu ) after attending school , which he completed in 1968. After a subsequent training at the infantry school (Piyade Okulu) he found employment as an officer in various army units from 1969 to 1981 and took part in Operation Atilla in July 1974 , the occupation of the north of the island of Cyprus by Turkey . After graduating from the Army Academy ( Kara Harp Akademisi ) from 1981 to 1983 , he became commander of a battalion of the occupation forces in Cyprus. After a subsequent visit to the Armed Forces Academy (Silahlı Kuvetler Akademisi) , he became a project officer in 1986 and then head of division in the personnel planning subdivision at the Army Headquarters, before he worked as an Army Attaché in the Soviet Union . After his return he became the commander of the 9th Infantry Division's 28th Infantry Regiment and subsequently head of the Operations Department of the 3rd Army in Erzincan .

After Memişoğlu was promoted to Brigadier General (Tuğgeneral) in 1995 , he was first commander of the 48th Motorized Infantry Brigade in Trabzon and then deputy head of the personnel department at the Army Headquarters. In 1999 he was promoted to major general (Tümgeneral) and appointed head of the personnel department at the headquarters of the army, before he was first commander of the 9th Infantry Division and then chief of staff of the 3rd Army.

On August 30, 2004 Memişoğlu was promoted to lieutenant general (co- general ) and appointed commander of the occupation force in Cyprus KTBK (Kıbrıs Türk Barış Kuvvetleri) . After two years in this post, he became head of the personnel department in the General Staff of Turkey in 2006 and held this position until 2008. He then became commander of the Armed Forces Medical Command (TSK Sağlık Komutanlığı) and at the same time commander of the Gülhane GATA (Gülhane Askerî Tıp Akademisi) Military Medical Academy, founded in 1898, and held this position until he retired in August 2010. This post was followed in August 2010 by Major General Hasan Küçükakyüz .

In November 2011 he became CEO of the armaments company Aselsan (Askerî Elektronik Sanayii A.Ş.) and thus the successor to former Lieutenant General Mehmet Çavdaroğlu . In 2013, he became Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Armed Forces Pension Fund OYAK (Ordu Yardımlaşma Kurumu) .

Memişoğlu, who is married to Yıldız Memişoğlu and has one child, speaks not only Turkish but also Russian and was awarded the Kıbrıs Barış Harekatı Gümüş Madalyası for his work in Cyprus .
