Turkish occupation force in Cyprus
The Turkish occupation force in Cyprus , translated as the Turkish peacekeeping force in Cyprus ( Turkish Kıbrıs Türk Barış Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı ), is one of the nine corps of the Turkish Aegean Army , stationed in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus . The occupation force comprises around 36,000 soldiers and has its headquarters in Girne .

history
Even before the Turkish invasion of 1974 , the Turkish army had a brigade on the island.
structure
The troops are currently subordinate to the 28th Mech Infantry Division ( Paşaköy ), the 39th Mech Infantry Division ( Çamlıbel ), the 14th tank brigade , an artillery brigade , a special operations regiment , army aviators and smaller units of the Turkish Navy .

The association has, among other 449 M48 battle tanks , 361 AAPC- team armored transport , 266 M-113 -Mannschaftstransportpanzer, three UH-1H Iroquois and an AS 532UL Cougar .
