Hasan Peker Günal

Hasan Peker Günal (* 1948 in Milas , Muğla Province ) is a former Turkish Major General of the Army (Türk Kara Kuvvetleri) and economic manager , who was among other things commander of the armed forces of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC Güvenlik Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı) between 1996 and 1998 and from 2003 until 2008 chairman of the board of the aviation company Tusaş .

Life

In 1959 Günal was one of the first-year students at the Selimiye Askerî Ortaokulu military secondary school, which was housed in the Selimiye barracks , and then graduated from the renowned Kuleli cadet school (Kuleli Askerî Lisesi) . He then completed his officer training at the Army School ( Kara Harp Okulu ) and, after graduating, found employment as an officer in various artillery units of the Army. Later he attended the Army Academy ( Kara Harp Akademisi ) and the Armed Forces Academy ( Silahlı Kuvvetler Akademisi ) and the United States Army War College .

After his promotion to Brigadier General (Tuğgeneral) in 1994 he was initially the commander of a command brigade ( Komando Tugayı) before he succeeded Brigadier General İsmail Koçman as Commander of the Armed Forces of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC Güvenlik Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı) on August 25, 1996 . He held this post until August 21, 1998 and was then replaced by Brigadier General Ali Nihat Özeyranlı . In 1998 he was appointed Major General (Tümgeneral) promoted and took over first the function as chief of staff of the education and training command of the land forces EDOK (Kara Kuvvetleri Eğitim ve doctrine Komutanlığı) and then as Deputy Secretary of the National Security MGK ( Milli Güvenlik Kurulu ) before he was the commander of the Military Transport School (Ulaştırma Okulu) until his retirement in 2002 .

After retiring from active military service, from 2003 to 2008 he was CEO of the aviation company Türk Havacılık Uzay A.Ş. ( Tusaş ) and between 2003 and 2008 General Coordinator of the Soldiers Foundation (Mehmetçik Vakfı) .
