Hase is an impact crater to the east of the lunar front , southeast of Mare Fecunditatis , south of Petavius crater and east of Snellius . The heavily eroded crater is in its southern part of the large craters Hase D superimposed.

Starting south of Hase, the lunar groove system of the Rimae Hase runs from the crater in a south-easterly direction.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German mathematician Johann Matthias Hase .
