Hatice Ayten

Hatice Ayten (the 20th century ) is a German documentary - director of Turkish descent.

Life

Hatice Ayten belongs to the second generation of Turkish migrants in Germany. She studied communication design with a focus on photography and film at the comprehensive university in Essen . Her early documentary short films Gülüzar (1994) and Ohneland (1995) were shown at international film festivals. Her graduation film (2004), broadcast on ZDF in 2005, is entitled “Mahrem öffne dich”; In the opinion of the author, the modern Islamic woman has left the Mahrem , the traditionally closed place of women, and the film asks the question of what the Islamic women's movement brings for women and explores the turn to Islam from a women's perspective. Ayten has shot documentaries for three ARTE themed evenings, including “People on the Stairs” (1999) and the full-length “Wie Zucker im Tee” (2001), which were also shown on 3sat . In 2005 she received the Felix Rexhausen Prize for “Out of Istanbul” . The jury emphasized that Ayten had succeeded in letting everyone involved in the film have an equal say.
