Hatrix is an American thrash metal band from Cleveland , Ohio that was formed in 1989.

history

The band was formed in 1989 by singer Jeffrey Hatrix ( Mushroomhead ) after he left his band Purgatory . A short time later, guitarist Dave Felton, drummer Gary Estok and bassist Kevin Skelly joined the band. Drummer Estok was replaced a short time later by Steve Felton, brother of guitarist Dave Felton. The band was first heard in 1990 on the compilation Heavy Artillery by Auburn Records with the song Sins of a Bastard Angel . In the same year the band went to Mars Studio to record the EP My Asylum . The phonogram was produced by Bill Korecky . Some live performances followed, as well as the addition of guitarist Marko Vukcevich. Another EP was released in 1993 and was called Collisioncoursewithnoplace . In the same year, both EPs were combined into one album that was released under two different names Hatrix and Revolution . As a result, the band reached a contract with the German label Massacre Records . The band re-recorded the songs from the EP Collisioncoursewithnoplace on EP. The song My Asylum was also re-recorded, as well as six new songs. The songs were released on the album Collisioncoursewithnoplace in 1994. After the album was released, the EP Anotherbadmemory was released . The EP contained five demo recordings that were neither on the album nor on the EP Collisioncoursewithnoplace EP. Shortly thereafter, the band split from Massacre Records. This was followed by some live performances. In addition, some songs formed the band Mushroomhead. In 1996, the band recorded the song Intimidation , which was included on the Industry Compilation , and another song called Freedom , which was featured on the 1998 Mushroomhead Inc. compilation . The band project paused for the next seven years until they played a few more gigs in 2005.

style

The band plays an aggressive form of Thrash Metal, with an emphasis on playing the electric guitar, which in turn is technically very demanding.
