Main laboratory (Ingolstadt)

The Royal Main Laboratory in Ingolstadt was responsible for the production of ammunition for handguns and small artillery for the Royal Bavarian Army . It was directly subordinate to the Royal Bavarian War Ministry.

After moving from Munich in 1883, ammunition production began in Ingolstadt in 1885. In the same year, the Royal Gun Foundry started production.

In 1920 the main laboratory and the gun foundry were dissolved and integrated into Deutsche Werke AG . In addition to spinning machines, cast and stack fittings were also manufactured. The Schubert & Salzer AG from Chemnitz acquired in 1938 shares of Deutsche Werke AG and settled after the Second World War and expropriation by the GDR completely to Ingolstadt to.

Today Laboratoriumsstrasse is a reminder of the former military facility.
