The house Lips from Schlitz is a 1995 to 2005 re-building, which dates mercury , today a district of slot , the Hesse Park .

History of the house

In 1904, Mayor Adam Lips (1856–1918) and his wife Margarethe (1863–1939) had the representative half-timbered house built. Master carpenter Poppert from Langenschwarz was the builder. The first room on the right in the house served as the mayor's office and registry office, another room as a guest room and the rest of the building was used by the Lips family.

The semi-public use corresponded to the complex, symmetrical decorative framework of the building with the rhombuses and St. Andrew's crosses typical of the region . In the historicist style, traditional forms and handicraft techniques were used for construction.

In 1948/49 conversions took place in which the window openings on the back were changed. After severe hail damage in 1957, the original window panes were replaced.

The renovation costs to bring the sanitary facilities up to the state of the art were too high, which is why the Lips family had a new building built in 1970/71. The old building should be demolished.

reconstruction

Instead, the house was dismantled in 1977 and in the Hessenpark spent . In 1995/96 the beams were renovated and the reconstruction was prepared. The reconstruction took place from 2002 to 2005. Today the house is part of the Hessenpark marketplace assembly. As a permanent exhibition, it shows the history of photography in Hesse using many original cameras (e.g. from the Leica brand ) and other exhibits.
