The Mauersberger house is a listed building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the Magdeburg district of Leipziger Strasse, a little higher at the confluence of Humboldtstrasse and Erich-Weinert-Strasse at the address Erich-Weinert-Strasse 19.

Architecture and history

The representative three-storey building was built in 1929 as a residential building for the Magdeburg businessman Reinhold Mauersberger, after whom the house takes its name. The design for the villa-like plastered house came from the Schönebeck architect Waldemar Krause . The cubic-looking building is covered by a flat roof. On the south side of the house there is a semicircular protruding side wing. In front of the upper floor there is also a semicircular roofed terrace with round supports. To the north, this is followed by a somewhat recessed stacked storey. The ribbon windows are divided with brick pillars.

At the time of construction, the building had eleven rooms inside, which were arranged around a central staircase.

The house is an important example of classic modern architecture in Magdeburg. Together with the neighboring houses Erich-Weinert-Strasse 15, 17 and Humboldtstrasse 7, it is one of the most important villa ensembles in the city. The architecture is based on Erich Mendelsohn with the round ribbon windows and the roofed terrace with round supports on Le Corbusier .
