History and description
The Stegmüller house was built in 1925 and 1926 according to plans by the architect Jan Hubert Pinand . The detached villa is a two-story , block-like structure.
Typical details are:
- calm symmetrical clinker brick facade with a contrasting expressionist artificial stone decor
- optically raised ground floor
- An unusual design can be found in the sharp-edged pilaster strips that protrude from the corners of the building with a constriction at the height of the cornice on the upper floor
- Beaver-tailed hipped roof with dormers
Monument protection
The Stegmüller house is a typical example of clinker brick expressionism in Darmstadt in the first half of the 20th century . For architectural and city history reasons, the villa is a cultural monument .
