Haus Steinhausen is a former moated castle and is located in the area of the Dortmund district of Holzen, northwest of today's Westhofener Kreuz, directly on Autobahn 1 .
history
The castle was first mentioned in a document in the 15th century and was the smallest of the knight seats of the Westhofen court.
During the Franco-Dutch War , French soldiers under Marshal Turenne conquered the castle via the frozen graves in February 1672 and sacked it. Reconstruction of the complex did not begin until around 1700.
An extensive renovation took place in the 1990s, but the mansion burned down in 1999.
The building is registered as a monument , the former castle as a ground monument in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund .
On June 10, 2015, the building burned again.
