House Tübingen on Föhr

The North Sea Sanatorium Haus Tübingen was located in Südstrand, a district of Wyk on the North Frisian island of Föhr . The sanatorium was built in 1898 for the doctor Carl Gmelin from Tübingen based on designs by the Berlin architect August Endell .

history

Wilhelm Bülow created a park around it. He planted Lebanon cedars , mulberries and figs . The pharmacist Stockmann had already started growing fir trees on Föhr in 1870 on heather and sandy soil to protect against the wind.

After a severe fire, only the old laundry remained of the sanatorium. This is where the Prinzen-Café pancake house is located today .
