The Zehender house is a baroque secular building on Marktplatz 12 in Heilbronn . The building stands as a cultural monument under monument protection .

history

The house was built in 1726 by the widow of the businessman Georg Friedrich Pfeil. It housed a haberdashery store founded by Louis Zehender in 1848 . On September 10, 1944, the cultural monument was badly damaged by bombs. It burned down on December 4, 1944, leaving only the facade . By September 1948, the building was rebuilt with the facade true to the original. It is one of the few buildings in Heilbronn, along with the town hall and the churches, that have been rebuilt true to the historical original. To the left of Haus Zehender was the Hotel Falken before it was destroyed; to the right of Haus Zehender, the Rauch'sche Palais stood as a corner building on Kaiserstraße until 1968 .

Owner Gerhard Zehender ran a textile department store in the building until 2010 and then sold it to the jeweler Andreas Grimmeissen, who had the shop facade and business premises completely and extensively modernized and has been using the building since then.
