The Sultanate of Hauschabi ( Arabic الحوشبي, DMG al-Ḥawšabī ) was a state within the South Arab Federation after briefly belonging to the Federation of the United Arab Emirates of the South . The area is now part of the Republic of Yemen . It was one of the nine cantons ( Sultanate of Lahij , Emirate of Dhala , Sheikdom Alawi , Aulaqi Sultanate , Sheikdom Aqrabi , Sultanate Fadli , Lower Yafi Sultanate ) that signed the Protection Treaty with the United Kingdom in the late 19th century . Its capital was Musaymir . His last sultan was Faisal bin Surur al-Hauschabi. This was ousted and his sheikdom was incorporated into the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen in 1967 .
