Sultanate of Fadli
The Sultanate of Fadhli ( Arabic فضلي, DMG Faḍlī ) was a state within the South Arab Federation after briefly belonging to the Federation of the United Arab Emirates of the South . The area is now part of the Republic of Yemen . The sultanate existed from 1670 to 1967.
It was one of the nine cantons ( Sultanate of Lahij , Emirate of Dhala , Sheikdom Alawi , Lower Aulaqi Sultanate , Sheikdom Aqrabi , Haushabi , Lower Yafi Sultanate ) that signed the Protection Treaty with the United Kingdom in the late 19th century . Its capital was Shuqra . In 1962 the administration moved to Zindschibar , but the seat of the sultanate remained in Shuqra. His last sultan was Nasser bin Abdullah bin Hussein bin Ahmed al-Fadli (Arabic:السلطان ناصر بن عبد الله بن حسين بن أحمد الفضلي). This was ousted and his sheikdom was incorporated into the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen in 1967 .
