Hay Peak

The Hay Peak is a 660  m high mountain on the north coast of South Georgia . It towers at the head of Prince Olav Harbor in Cook Bay .

Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it in 1929 and named it descriptively as The Snow Pap (English for The Schneebrei ). However, this name did not prevail. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1990 after Arthur Edward Hay (1902 - unknown), an engineer for the Southern Whaling and Sealing Company at their whaling station in Prince Olav Harbor from 1924 to 1935.
