The Cook Bay is an irregularly shaped bay on the north coast of South Georgia . Your entrance will be marked by Cape Crewe and Black Head . To the west it splits into Lighthouse Bay and Prince Olav Harbor .
It was mapped by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations between 1926 and 1930. It is named after the British navigator and explorer James Cook (1728–1779), who landed in the bay in 1775.
