The Hayden von Dorff (also Haiden, H. von und zu Dorff) were an old Upper Austrian noble family, which owned their ancestral seat Schloss Dorff for 600 years. In 1888 they were raised to the baron status.

history

A Berthold Hayden is mentioned as early as 1317, his son Nikolaus in 1360. In a document from the Garsten Abbey , 1327 the Steyr citizen Ruger von Hayden is mentioned. Duke Albrecht II of Austria awarded a Meierhof zu Molln to Ruger and Niklas von Hayden on August 10, 1336 . Thomas von Hayden, son of Niklas, was judge at Kremsmünster and nurse at Scharnstein from 1376 to 1379 . In 1400 Dorff becomes a fiefdom of Duke Albrecht IV of Austria . A document from 1417 allowed Wolfgang von Hayden to serve wine at the castle. In the 17th century, Christoph Benedikt Hayden von Dorff married Beatrix Spindler, owner of Weyer Castle . The Hayden von Dorff also held the possessions of Inzersdorf for a long time and Lindach until 1758 . The heir, Susanna of Wolf Siegmund von und zu Dorff, married Christoph Adam von Zötliz (Zedlitz) in 1659 , who brought money into the marriage and thus saved the property. Christoph Adam died very soon, so that the castle went to his nephew Christoph Adam von Hayden. The latter had a Fideikommiss established over his possessions in 1711 , which was not lifted until 1939. Wolfgang von Hayden owned Dorff until 1913. Knight Freiherr Eduard von Hayden died in 1959 at the age of 75 and bequeathed the property to his granddaughter Angela Beck.

The Hayden held the usual functions, such as ordained or raitherr of the estates of the Archduchy of Austria whether the Enns in the knightly, later also in the lordship, and served in the Habsburg army.

Christoph Achatz Hayden von und zu Dorff, sergeant-general and commander of Carlsburg in Transylvania, was promoted to baron in 1732.

The coat of arms is a yellow shield, in which half of a red-clad Mändl, covered with a pointed Hungarian hood, can be seen holding a stretched bow with an arrow on it. On the helmet crowned with gold also appears half of the described red Mändl. The helmet covers are mixed in red and yellow.
