Haydn house

The Haydnhäuschen is in Eisenstadt at Bürgerspitalgasse 2.

The small garden house has a rather low brick ground floor. The upper floor is a wooden structure with vertical exterior planking with a hipped roof and external stairs to the garden. The house is in a garden with a vertical picket fence.

The garden shed with garden was owned by Joseph Haydn . It is said that Haydn sometimes withdrew here when he wanted to compose in peace. The " Kaiserquartett " is said to have originated here.

In 2018, a Haydn memorial was unveiled in Bürgerspitalgasse next to the herb garden. The monument, made of a ten-ton, three-meter-high marble block, was designed by the sculptor Heidi Tschank, the bronze head shows the young Haydn smiling.
