The Hayes Glacier is a 19 km long valley glacier in the northern Alaska range in Alaska ( USA ).
The Hayes Glacier has its nutrient area on the western flank of Mount Hayes at an altitude of about 2300 m . The 900 m wide glacier initially flows in a northerly direction, later in a northeast and easterly direction down the valley. A larger tributary glacier that drains the eastern flank of Mount Hayes meets the main glacier coming from the south. This turns towards east-northeast and ends after another 3.8 km at an altitude of 1050 m . The glacier feeds Hayes Creek , which flows into Delta Creek , a left tributary of the Tanana River . The Hayes Glacier is on the decline.
Like Mount Hayes, the glacier was named after Charles Willard Hayes (1858-1916), a geologist from the US Geological Survey (USGS) .
