The Hayes Head is a 850  m high, cliff-like cape on the Borchgrevink coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It protrudes 5 km north of Kay Island into the northern reaches of Wood Bay .

The area was mapped by surveying work by the United States Geological Survey and using aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1955 and 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the cape in 1968 after Miles O. Hayes (* 1934), geologist on the McMurdo - Station from 1965 to 1966.
