Hays PLC is an international recruitment agency with headquarters in London. The focus of activity is the recruiting of specialists and managers. The company operates in the private and public sectors and provides specialists for permanent positions, project work and temporary employment.
Company history
The company's roots go back to 1867, when Hays was founded in London as an operator of shipyards and warehouses. Hays acquired the personnel services business, which was founded in 1968 as the Career Care Group , in 1986. Since 1989, Hays has also been listed on the London Stock Exchange.
In 2003, Hays realigned itself and since then has focused exclusively on personnel services. In the same year the acquisition of the competitor Ascena in Germany took place. After numerous expansions in 2011, the company is now represented on four continents in 33 countries with 252 offices and employs over 10,000 people worldwide.

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Hays employs over 2,300 people in Augsburg, Berlin, Bonn, Dortmund, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Essen, Frankfurt am Main, Frankfurt am Main Airport, Freiburg, Hamburg, Hanover, Ingolstadt, Cologne, Leipzig, Mannheim, Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Ulm, Walldorf, Wiesbaden, Graz, Vienna, Basel, Bern, Geneva and Zurich. The head office responsible for the German-speaking area is in Mannheim. The CEO is Dirk Hahn. In the 2016/2017 financial year, the personnel service provider generated revenues of EUR 6.09 billion.
Hays is a member of the DGB / iGZ - collective agreement .
Hays has certification for its quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001 (TÜV Süd) and was the first German personnel service provider to be certified by TÜV Rheinland for its compliance activities (TÜV TR CMS: 101 according to ISO 19.600).

- Contracting: Provision of services by subcontractors for projects of various sizes and durations. Both independent contractors (" freelancers ") and employees of specialized service providers are used here.
- Temp: temporary employment or temporary employment
- Permanent: Placement of experts for permanent positions as well as executive search (management recruitment) in some industries.
- Contracts for work: As a solution provider for engineering and IT services, Hays also offers the processing of technical work packages in accordance with the specifications .
- Workforce Management: The Hays Talent Solutions division specializes in workforce management, internal or external personnel management. As a Managed Service Provider (MSP), Hays takes on the staffing and management of external specialists, such as supplier management or time management. In the area of Recruitment Process Services (RPS), the company offers the takeover and optimization of internal and external recruiting processes for companies, on-site and off-site.
- Compliant Sourcing: The Compliant Sourcing business unit offers process and organizational consulting for the compliance with the rules of external personnel. The focus of the consulting services is on the forms of the independent service contract, the work contract and the temporary employment contract. On May 31, 2019, Hays registered the Compliant Sourcing (R) word mark with the German Patent and Trademark Office. The entry was completed at the end of July 2019.
Studies
Since 2007, the company has published studies and results of empirical market research that deal with current changes in the work and organizational worlds in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company works with external scientific institutions, for example Pierre Audoin Consultants (PAC) and the Institute for Employment and Employability (IBE) at the University of Ludwigshafen am Rhein .
