The Hayter Peak is a 565 m high mountain on the island Heard in the Indian Ocean . It rises 300 m west of Mount Olsen on the Laurens Peninsula .
Scientists from the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) carried out the survey and the naming in 1948. It is named after Alfred J. Hayter, Warrant Officer of the expedition ship HMAS Labuan .
