Hear Them Calling is a song by the Icelandic singer Greta Salóme . With this song she represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 .

Background and publication

The song was written by the singer herself and published for the first time on January 15, 2016 under the name Raddirnar as part of the Icelandic preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The song was originally composed in Icelandic , as the preliminary round stipulates that the songs in the semi-finals must be sung in the local language. A few days after the semi-finals, however, she announced via Facebook that she would sing in English in the final and in the event of a victory at the ESC. On February 20, 2016, Greta Salóme won the Icelandic preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest with the English version of Hear Them Calling Söngvakeppnin 2016 . She reached the superfinal with Alda Dís Arnardóttir and won the show there with more than 70% of the votes of the Icelandic callers.

On March 19, 2016, a reworked version of the song by Thorvaldur Bjarni and Ash Howes was released. Ash Howes has composed songs for Ellie Goulding and Kylie Minogue , among others .
