The 43 Gemechaniseerde Brigade ( German  43rd Mechanized Brigade ) is an independent brigade within the Dutch military . The largest part of the brigade is stationed in the Johannes Postkazerne, named after the resistance fighter Johannes Post , in Havelte ( province of Drenthe ).

The 43rd Mechanized Brigade logo is an American bison with the number 43 on a red and blue background.

history

The brigade was set up in July 1949 as the 43rd Independent Infantry Brigade in what was then the Dutch East Indies . In 1992 it was renamed the 43 Gemechaniseerde Brigade. The brigade was withdrawn from active service two years later. In 1998 the brigade was put back into service.

On March 17, 2016, the brigade and its 16 Leopard 2 A6NL tanks were subordinated to the German 1st Panzer Division .
