Elevator (drilling rig)

A hoist is a large, high-powered winch that is part of a drilling rig . It winds the wire rope of the pulley system that moves the drill string up and down. The load on the drill bit can also be controlled via the hoist .

Lifting works differ essentially in their performance, the rope diameter that can be used, the type of gear ( chain drive or gear) and the operating mode (free-fall or 4-quadrant operation).
