history

The publishing house is a civil law company and was founded in 2002 by the two current owners, Steffi Hebsacker and Tobias Berben, with the aim of promoting the spread of the game of Go in Germany. The impetus for founding a games and book publisher resulted from the fact that Ravensburger Spieleverlag had stopped producing inexpensive Go games.

Steffi Hebsacker therefore designed a Go game out of paper and cardboard and continued its production with the support of the German Go Association. V. around. At almost the same time, Tobias Berben realized the reprint of the Go book Go. The Middle of Heaven by Michael Koulen, which was published in three editions by DuMont Buchverlag in Cologne , but was never reprinted. Together they then founded the joint publishing house as a framework for these projects.

A web shop was established in spring 2003. This was followed by book and game projects, activities to promote the game of Go, and the expansion and expansion of the program to include other mind games.

Publishing program

The publisher has published books for introducing the game and for further study, and has implemented several projects to provide Go game material for beginners - especially children and young people. In addition, he has an English-language range of Go literature and Go game material.

Publishing activities

In addition to its own publishing activities, the editorial and technical support of the Deutsche Go-Zeitung , the association newspaper of the German Go-Bund eV , is a central activity of the Hebsacker Verlag. He also organizes Go seminars and tournaments, donated a Go youth award and supports a Go Bundesliga team. The publisher is also organizing the professional game of the month event with Yoon Young-Sun on the KGS Go server .
