Hedwig Katscher

Hedwig Clara Katscher (born April 25, 1898 in Vienna , † October 2, 1988 in London ) was an Austrian poet .

Life

The daughter of a merchant, after studying the physics and mathematics in Vienna and the promotion as archive manager in a bibliographic Institute and the General Secretariat of an industrial company. After losing her job, she accompanied her husband, a chemist, to Moscow , and in 1934 to Sicily . In 1938 she emigrated to England. In 1953 Katscher returned to Vienna, where she worked again as an archivist until around 1978.

Emigration and the Holocaust are reflected in her first volume of poetry, Flutumdunkelt (1964).
