Hedwig von Wolhusen
Hedwig von Wolhusen , also Hedwig von Voulhousen (* before 1070, † after 1070) was an abbess of the Fraumünster in Zurich.
Life
Hedwig von Wolhusen, in the old spelling Vuolhusen , is mentioned in the Einsiedler Chronicle of 1494 by Albrecht von Bonstetten as abbess of the Fraumünster in Zurich in the 11th century. She led the women's convent after she is said to have entered the monastery at the same time as her husband Seliger von Wolhusen, who later became the abbot of Einsiedeln , in 1070 . The oldest professorial rite of the Fraumünster Abbey also dates from this last quarter of the 11th century and is evidence of strict observance of the rules of the order. Hedwig von Wolhusen is also not documented.
