Hanni Knerr (born December 15, 1935 - † November 6, 2013 ) was a German teacher who has received numerous awards for her local political and social commitment.

Life

Hanni Knerr worked as a secondary school teacher for mathematics and Protestant religion. In doing so, she always tried to convey social action to the students.

From 1979 to 2004 she was a member of the SPD parliamentary group in the Speyer city ​​council . It was a particular concern of her there to realize equal rights for women in Speyer. For many years she was also the chairwoman of the “Working Group of Social Democratic Women in the SPD” in Rhineland-Palatinate. “Half of heaven, half of power” was a repeated demand from her for the emancipation of women.

She was active in various clubs and associations in Speyer, such as the Friends of Nature and the Art Association and the non-profit building cooperative. She had made a special contribution in bringing the town twinning of Speyer to life. She was active in the presbytery of the Johanneskirche as well as in the district church council of the church district Speyer and - as a founding member - in the "German-Israelite Society - Speyer-Palatinate Working Group". Hanni Knerr was a member of the 9th Federal Assembly on May 23, 1989. She died in November 2013 and was buried in the Speyer cemetery.
