The former Hotel Badischer Hof was opened in 1780. With its central location in Heidelberger Hauptstrasse 113 (corner of Schiffgasse), it was long considered the most elegant building on the square. Among his illustrious guests was King Ludwig I of Bavaria .

On March 5, 1848 Badische Hof met the Heidelberger meeting , a milestone on the way to the first freely elected parliament in Germany in the St. Paul Church .

After the hotel closed in 1894, it was divided into three buildings. No. 113 now houses the Heidelberger Volksbank . No. 113a and 115 are under monument protection.
