The Heidenheimer Neue Presse (HNP) is a regional subscription daily newspaper . It appears in the district of Heidenheim and in the adjacent areas of the districts of Ostalb, Göppingen, Alb-Donau and Dillingen an der Donau. The company is based in Heidenheim an der Brenz . The sold circulation is 2890 copies, a decrease of 64.3 percent since 1999.

history

In 1953 the Heidenheimer Neuesten Nachrichten (HNN) was founded, which worked together with the Neue Württembergische Zeitung (NWZ) in Göppingen. In 1961 the HNN merged with the Heidenheimer Zeitung , whereupon the NWZ founded a local Heidenheim edition: the Heidenheimer Neue Presse . The Göppingen politics editor Heinz Berends was appointed head of the local editorial office, the first HNP appeared on September 29, 1962.

In 1974 the NWZ was taken over by the Ulmer Südwest-Presse . Because it has been working with Heidenheimer Zeitung since 1961 (cover section and printing), the acquired HNP had become a competitor in-house and was about to be dissolved or incorporated. The then publisher of the Heidenheimer Zeitung , Karl-Heinz Wilhelm, decided in 1975 for the “Heidenheimer model” with separate editorial offices and joint management, an advertising department and combined sales.

Heinz Berends remained local manager of the HNP until his retirement in 1984. Henry Sleur came to Heidenheim from Bild-Zeitung as editor-in-chief. In 1992 culture editor Manfred Allenhöfer was appointed editor-in-chief. Since the complete merger of HNP with HZ on December 1, 2009, Hendrik Rupp has been editor-in-chief.

After the newspaper crisis around the turn of the millennium, the publisher Hans-Jörg Wilhelm decided to merge the district editorial offices of HNP and HZ for economic reasons. At that time there was already a joint sports department. This left the HNP with the three departments City of Heidenheim, City of Giengen / City of Herbrechtingen and the HNP-Kulturspiegel.

On January 1, 2008, the HNP and HZ editorial offices for Giengen and Herbrechtingen , which had previously worked separately, merged with sub-locations. On December 1, 2009, the local and cultural editorial offices also merged.

Conception

The HNP appears in the Rhenish format Monday to Saturday. On Sunday, Sonntag Aktuell is published with the Heidenheimer Sunday newspaper (joint product of the Heidenheimer daily newspapers). On Thursdays, the HNP comes with the newspaper Neue Woche (including cinema program, calendar, classified ads, youth pages), and on Saturdays the supplement Heidenheimer Automarkt .

To distinguish it visually from the Heidenheimer Zeitung , the HNP obtains the first three pages (federal politics) of the cover section from the Stuttgarter Nachrichten , the remaining cover pages (state politics, economy, view of the world, national sports, features) from the Südwest-Presse . Visually, the pages of the Stuttgarter Nachrichten differ from those of the Südwest-Presse primarily in their columnar layout and typeface: The Stuttgarter Nachrichten uses five columns, the Südwest-Presse uses six columns with the fonts Frutiger (title) and Utopia (basic text).

Edition

The Heidenheimer Neue Presse has lost a lot of its circulation in recent years . The number of copies sold has fallen by an average of 7.7% per year over the past 10 years. Last year it decreased by 18.8%. It is currently 2890 copies. The share of subscriptions in the circulation sold is 99.5 percent.
