Heidenkopf (heraldry)

The heather head is a common figure in heraldry . A bearded bust covered with a pointed cap is shown in the escutcheon . The coat of arms has been demonstrable since 1707 in the coat of arms of the city of Heidenheim in Württemberg . From 1705 to 1803 the Heidenkopf was part of the Württemberg coat of arms. It came in through the purchase of Heidenheim in 1448 by the Counts of Helfenstein.
