Heiko Frank Wenzel, Professor of the Old Testament at the Free Theological University (FTH) Gießen

Heiko Frank Wenzel (born August 5, 1970 ) is an evangelical theologian and professor of the Old Testament at the Free Theological University of Giessen (FTH).

Life

Wenzel grew up in the community of Untersiemau near Coburg and graduated from the Ernestinum Coburg grammar school in 1989 . From 1991 he studied Islamic studies and theology, among others in Marburg , Krelingen and Gießen , during which time he obtained his Latinum , Graecum and Hebraicum . In 1996 he passed his theological exam at the Free Theological Academy (FTA, today Free Theological University Gießen ) . In 2000 he graduated from the Justus Liebig University in Giessen with a Master of Arts degree in Islamic Studies and Protestant Theology.

From 2003 to 2006, Wenzel lived with his family in Wheaton (Illinois) , USA , where he completed a doctoral degree in the Old Testament department of Wheaton College with a graduate scholarship . In 2008 he received his Ph.D. from Wheaton College.

Wenzel has been teaching at the Free Theological University of Giessen (FTH) since 2006. On December 22, 2010, he was appointed to the professorship there for the Old Testament and Islamic Studies .
