Sanatorium and nursing home praise
The Loben sanatorium was a psychiatric facility in Lublinitz or Loben, district of Lublinitz , from 1941 district of Loben (since 1945 Lubliniec , Powiat Lubliniecki , Silesian Voivodeship ). The youth psychiatric clinic Loben later also belonged to it.
The facility was established in 1894 as part of a home called Idiotenanstalt and had been an independent unit since 1904. During the Nazi era , 1,500 patients were treated in the clinic. In December 1941 a “ children's department ” was set up here. The clinic director Ernst Buchalik and the head of child psychiatry were Elisabeth Hecker .
Hecker selected the children and adolescents and reported on this: “I may only hint at the well-examined material that comes together in the care ward when the brain is examined by the neurological research institute in Wroclaw after the death of the children. Prof. von Weizsäcker has graciously agreed to have these brain pathological examinations done. "
In the medical files of this clinic, which the Hamburg doctor Karl Heinz Roth was able to inspect, the murder of 280 children who had just reached school age is documented.
Today the Wojewódzki Szpital Neuropsychiatryczny w Lublińcu is located there . 1953–2000 there was a clinical department of the Medical University of Katowice here .
