Do you call, my fatherland is the former Swiss national anthem . The text written in 1811 by the Bern professor of philosophy, Johann Rudolf Wyss , is sung to the melody of the British royal anthem . The melody was widespread then, especially among Napoleon's enemies. With increasing international contacts in the 20th century, it became more and more common that the Swiss and British anthems were played one after the other. In Switzerland, this ultimately led to the desire for a new anthem.
In 1961 the Federal Council decided to introduce the Swiss psalm as the new national anthem.
The hymn was sung in all four national languages of Switzerland.

Do you call, my fatherland,
