The Holy Trinity is the Protestant church in Parey in Saxony-Anhalt . It belongs to the Evangelical Church District Elbe-Fläming of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany . It is also used by the Roman Catholic parish of St. Marien, based in Genthin , since the Catholic chapel, consecrated in 1970, was abandoned in 2010.

history

The church was built in the baroque style in 1697 and 1698 after a donation by the manor owner Werner von Plotho . It was the third church building in Parey. The masonry brick but plastered nave are in the East a multipage chancel and west risalitartig added square bell. While the nave has a gable roof and the chancel has a hipped roof , the tower is crowned with a tail roof, an open lantern and a Welscher hood . A wooden hollow vault spans the interior, and a two-storey gallery is attached to the west side .

The interior is designed in a baroque style throughout. The most outstanding item in the inventory is the richly decorated altar wall, carved from wood, into which a copy of Rubens' painting "Descent from the Cross" is inserted. The original was made by Johann Vorberg in 1702 and was destroyed on April 25, 1945 by the effects of the war. A copy could not be made until 1954. The heavily proportioned pulpit, also created by Vorberg in 1705, is carried by a figure of Moses and is decorated with figures of Christ and the Evangelists . The manor galleries on the north side, created by JC Wohler in 1749 and also decorated with carvings, are provided with the Plotoschen coat of arms. Two elaborate marble epitaphs from the 18th century commemorate Friedrich Philipp and Charlotte Catharina von Ploto.

The pneumatic organ was built in 1912 by the Stendal company R. Voigt.

The family crypt of the von Plotho family is located under the church .

In 2019 the third bell was installed again.
