The Oral Local History Museum ( Russian Областной историко-краеведческий музей ) is a local history museum in the western Kazakh city of Oral . The museum was founded in 1836 and has more than 100,000 different exhibits.

The local history museum was founded in 1836 and has been housed in the current building since 1879. It has several branches: the Museum of the Heroine of the Soviet Union Manschuk Mametova, the House Museum Yemelyan Pugachev, the House Museum Gumarow, the Museum of Nature and Ecology in Oral and the Museum Complex of the famous writer Mikhail Sholokhov.

With a collection of 102,917 exhibits, the museum is the largest museum in Oral. The museum includes topics such as archeology , history , the history of the Soviet era, art history , literature , science and education in Western Kazakhstan, ethnography of the Kazakh people and history of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

building

The museum building is located on the city's central street, Prospect Dostyk-Druzhba in the center of Oral. The building was built in the oriental style in 1880 . In Soviet times, an agricultural institute was housed here. Today the building is one of the historical and cultural monuments of national importance in Kazakhstan.
