Local history museum Worms-Abenheim
The listed building of the local history museum is in the Abenheim district of Worms .
history
The seven-axis building was built in the 1820s as a schoolhouse for four classes and was used as such until 1966.
In 1967 the building was transferred to the Abenheimer Heimatverein, which extensively renovated it in the same year. The local history museum has been located in the house since 1968. The building, which has a cellar on one side, offers a room on the ground floor that is used both as a meeting room for the Heimatverein and as a community room for the Abenheim Protestant parish.
Sponsorship and exhibition focus
The museum is supported by the local history association Worms-Abenheim. The focus of the exhibition on the approximately 50 m² exhibition area on the upper floor is the general history of the place, starting with finds from the Stone Age , through the Middle Ages to modern times , whereby Abenheim's Catholic character is due to its affiliation to the Fulda monastery in the years 774–1390 and by gender the Dalberger , who shaped the place in the years 1390–1796, is made clear. Other focal points of the exhibition are the effects of this basic Catholic attitude in the time of the Third Reich .
Special exhibitions
A separate room is provided for special exhibitions.
