Heiner Metzler
Heiner Metzler (born October 5, 1930 ; † July 28, 2015 ) was a German judoka and national judo trainer .
Life
Metzler became the first German European middleweight champion in 1960 and defended the title in 1961. Then he was available to the DJB as national coach. From 1971 to 1975 he coached the juniors, 1978 and 1979 the women and then until 1990 the men. He accompanied Frank Wieneke to Olympic gold in 1984. After his active time as national coach, Metzler lived with his wife in the south of France.
