Heinrich Heine Monument

The Heinrich Heine Monument is a monument on the summit of the Brocken in the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt . It is reminiscent of the poet Heinrich Heine , who stayed in the Brockenhaus on the night of September 19-20, 1824 and processed this experience in his book Die Harzreise .

On September 16, 1956, a commemorative plaque was unveiled on a Brockenklippe on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Heine's death. The badge was kept during the closure of the Brocken summit in Schierke from August 1961 . On November 8, 1996, today's Heine memorial was inaugurated on the initiative of the Harz Club branch association Schierke. Between Secondhand goods and Clouds hut four was tons heavy granite stone erected where the preserved original Heine plaque was attached.

In the lower area to the left and right of the plaque , the dates 1797 and 1856 , Heine's life dates, are worked into the stone. Below is the inscription: HEINRICH HEINE .
