Thorsten Schmidt (born September 8, 1965 in Schönebeck (Elbe) ) is a German publisher , publicist and photographer .

Life

Schmidt grew up in Calbe (Saale) and founded the Schmidt-Buch-Verlag on June 1, 1990 at the age of 25 in Wernigerode am Harz . The bookseller's publishing program initially included the publication of postcards, a new city guide for Wernigerode and a Harz travel guide. After initial successes, the publishing program was expanded significantly. Today it mainly focuses on the issuing of travel guides, hiking and leisure maps. From 1991 to 2003 the publisher also produced picture calendars on the subjects of Romanesque Roads, Harz Narrow Gauge Railways, Harz and Wernigerode. In addition, he has presented several standard works on the history of the city and county of Wernigerode in close collaboration with the Wernigerode regional historian and culture award winner Uwe Lagatz . He also wrote several art guides on the Romanesque Road himself . The publications are illustrated by images that Thorsten Schmidt, as a photographer, usually took himself.
