The administration building in Kreuztal

The Heinrich Georg GmbH is an engineering company with headquarters in Kreuztal in the northern Siegerland . It works in the business areas of conveyor systems, machine tools and transformer systems. With the transformer systems division, Georg is a leading manufacturer of transformer core sheet cutting and stacking systems.

history

Heinrich Georg GmbH was founded by Heinrich Georg on June 20, 1948 - the day of the currency reform . He took over the workshop of his father Otto Georg and invested his "head money" of 30 DM as starting money for the new company. In this small workshop, he developed straightening systems for reinforcement bars and the so-called "Lilliput scissors", eccentric hitting shears for cutting reinforcement bars to length. The specialization in straightening and cutting systems for metal processing quickly led to market leadership in this special mechanical engineering segment.

The development of the first cutting and punching system for grain-oriented electrical steel in 1960 laid the foundation for today's “transformer systems” division.

In 1974 Georg took over the neighboring businesses "Grüdelbach + Schütter", thereby expanding its product portfolio to the field of special machine tools - the start of today's "Machine Tools" segment. The further developments of the cutting systems for the requirements in the operation of steel service centers led to the formation of today's business area "conveyor systems".

After completing his mechanical engineering studies, Gerd Georg - son of Heinrich Georg - joined the company on August 1st, 1968. On October 1, 1983, he was appointed managing director. Heinrich Georg's son-in-law, Hans-Jürgen Patt, joined the company in April 1963. From 1983 to 1994 he was sole authorized signatory and from 1995 managing director with sole power of representation alongside Gerd Georg. From 2003, Mark Georg - Gerd Georg's son - was a member of the management team, which he has been managing alone since 2010 when Gerd Georg and Hans-Jürgen Patt moved to the supervisory board.

Today the company has around 450 employees and four subsidiaries, generating around 100 million euros in sales.

Product areas

Heinrich Georg GmbH consists of three independently operating product areas.

Transformer systems

The transformer systems product area builds stacking and cutting systems for grain-oriented electrical steel, which is required for laying transformer cores in the manufacture of transformers . The Georg systems process bandwidths of up to 1250 mm and Georg is the only manufacturer who meets this requirement in the field of power transformers. In 1995 Georg developed a technique that enabled the fully automated placement of a transformer core - the so-called electric forklift. The TBA400eco is the first cutting system in compact form and was specially developed for the requirements of the Indian market. The “plug 'n' play” concept proved so successful that it is now also being implemented for other bandwidths.

In addition to the cutting systems, the product area also builds production systems for the manufacture of corrugated wall boilers that are used to cool transformers. Slitting lines and core laying tables complete the portfolio and make Georg a full-range supplier for transformer plants and service centers worldwide.

Conveyor systems

The strip lines product area supplies complete solutions and individual components for the lengthwise and cross-cutting of coils . As a specialist for the requirements in steel service centers, Georg developed the first slitting line with cutting lasers in 1994. In recent years, the product area has developed more and more into a leading supplier in the processing of aluminum. In early 2014, the first slitting and cut-to-length lines with a belt width of up to 2800 mm were installed in Kaminsk, Russia. The first trimming machine for aluminum coils with a speed of up to 1800 m / min proves the technological leadership in this segment as well.

Machine tools

The machine tools product area is the most diversified with its special machine tools. In addition to portal milling machines for machining railway rails, the portfolio also includes lathes for machining turbine rotors. With the development of the ultraturn MC concept, Georg created the first machining center with workpiece measurement for milling and turning operations up to 250 t workpiece weight and 4000 mm max. Diameter.

subsidiary company

In addition to Heinrich Georg GmbH Maschinenfabrik, the group has four other subsidiaries.

Georg Automation GmbH

The company became independent in 2002 from the control technology department of Heinrich Georg GmbH Maschinenfabrik. It offers automation and control technology for a large number of industrial applications.

Heinrich Georg (UK) Ltd.

In addition to a sales office of Heinrich Georg GmbH Maschinenfabrik, Georg UK also offers a large number of its own development and manufacturing products for the UK market.

Georg Automatic Feed, Inc. and Georg Manufacturing Systems, Inc. USA

The two American companies form the sales and service branch of Heinrich Georg GmbH Maschinenfabrik on the North American continent.

Georg Product Service Center China

This branch has been offering support for many Georg customers in the East Asian region since 1985.
