Heinrich Havermann

Heinrich Havermann (born January 29, 1909 in Benrath near Düsseldorf ; † November 22, 1971 in Bonn ) was a German animal breeding scientist and professor at the University of Bonn .

Life

He studied agriculture and zoology in Kiel and Bonn-Poppelsdorf , put the final exam as agronomist from, was founded in 1935 as a research assistant at the former Institute of Animal Breeding and dairying with the experimental farm Frankenforst Bonn University and after graduation in 1941 to Dr. phil. active as senior scientific assistant. In 1946/47 Havermann completed his habilitation in Bonn-Poppelsdorf in the field of animal breeding and feeding, taught from 1947 as an adjunct, from 1950 as associate professor and head of the small animal breeding department and from 1951 headed the Frankenforst experimental farm.

In 1954 Havermann was appointed full professor for animal breeding and feeding and director of the Bonn Institute for animal breeding and husbandry as the successor to Georg Rothes . His research initially related to small animal breeding, namely poultry breeding, but then also to large animal breeding and the performance testing of the main animal species. He supervised three habilitation theses and over 90 dissertations. He was co-editor of the archive for poultry science and from 1958 editor of the journal Züchtungskunde . Here he introduced summaries in foreign languages ​​and promoted foreign authors. In 1965 he was appointed to the editorial board of the "World Revue of Animal Production".

After his sudden death, Franz Schmitten became his successor.
