Heinrich II. (Schwarzburg-Blankenburg)

Heinrich II. Count of Schwarzburg (* around 1150/55; † February 20, 1236 ) was Count of Schwarzburg-Blankenburg from 1197 . He is the progenitor of the Counts and Princes of Schwarzburg.

Life

He is the eldest son of Count Günther II von Käfernburg from his first marriage to Gertrud von Wettin.

In 1197 he followed his father together with his brother Günther III, shared with him and became Count of Schwarzburg-Blankenburg. Günther became Count of Käfernburg , Ilmenau and Arnstadt .

He was on the side of the Staufer .

In 1204, in the German War of the Throne, he moved against the Thuringian Landgrave Hermann I.

Marriage after offspring

He married Irmgard von Weimar-Orlamünde , daughter of Count Siegfried III. With her he had sons

  • Albrecht II of Schwarzburg († 1278), provost of Bibra and canon of Magdeburg
  • Henry III. († 1259), Count of Schwarzburg-Leutenberg
  • Günther VII. († 1274), Count of Schwarzburg-Blankenburg
