Henry IX. Reuss to Köstritz (1711–1780)

Henry IX. (Born September 15, 1711 in Köstritz ; † September 16, 1780 in Berlin ) was Count Reuss zu Köstritz . Henry IX. is the founder of the middle Russian branch Köstritz.

Life

Henry IX. was a son of Count Heinrich XXIV. and his wife Freiin Eleonore von Promnitz-Dittersbach (1688–1776).

Heinrich completed a degree in political science and law and, after his cavalier tour, went to his mother's estates in Silesia, where he accepted a legal position. Through family ties he became acquainted with the future King Friedrich II of Prussia and began working as a judge of the chamber judge in Berlin .

From 1762 to 1769 Heinrich IX. royal Prussian postmaster general and chief of the postal system. Later he rose to the position of minister in charge, highest court official and close personal advisor to Frederick the Great. Heinrich was buried in the Berlin garrison church after his death .

Henry IX. married on June 7, 1743 in Dorth, with Deventer Countess Amalie von Wartensleben and Flodroff (1715–1787), daughter of Count Karl von Wartensleben and his wife Johanna Margarita Huysseman von Cattendyck, Countess von Flodroff. He had the following nine children with her:
