Heinrich Königswieser

Heinrich Königswieser (* 1530 in Königsberg i. Pr .; † around 1583 ) was a German painter .

In 1552 Duke Albrecht sent Königswieser to train with Lucas Cranach the Younger in Wittenberg . In 1559 he became court painter to the duke. He painted many epitaphs in the Königsberg Cathedral , from the ducal councilor Hans Nimptsch with the oldest view of Königsberg (1557), Bishop Mörlin (1571) and Landhofmeister Anton von Borcke . A picture of Duke Albrecht (1564) was in the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum in Berlin.
