Heinrich Kreienberg (born August 17, 1917 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Players in World War II and the immediate post-war period (until 1949)

Nothing is known about Kreienberg's early life and the beginning of his career as a footballer. During the Second World War , he played at least temporarily for the Duisburg club Westende Hamborn and took part in the German championship finals in 1943 after winning the Lower Rhine Championship . On May 16 of this year, the midfielder and his team went to the round of 16 at VfR Mannheim and suffered an 8-1 defeat.

Together with Theodor Kreienberg and Heinz Stemmer , he was one of three actors from the Hamborner Niederrheinmeistermannschaft who joined Meidericher SV after the end of the war . It is unclear when exactly he came to MSV. One of the two players named Kreienberg joined the club in 1945/46 and became Duisburg city champion with him.

Second and first division with Meiderich (1949–1955)

From summer 1949 at the latest, he played for Meiderich, because from that year he was part of the team that competed in the newly introduced 2nd League West . This league was the foundation of the newly launched Oberliga West , which was the highest class in the then still regionally limited league system. Kreienberg occupied a permanent place in the first team and did not miss a single game for a long time. Accordingly, he made his contribution to the fact that the MSV in 1951 succeeded in promotion to the top division. As a result, he made his debut in the top division when he was on August 19, 1951 in a 1-1 draw against Prussia Dellbrück on the field.

In the following time he maintained his regular place, while his team was able to establish itself in the league. It was not until the 1954/55 season that he lost his position and at the same time had to witness the relegation of his team. During the 1955/56 season, which led to the direct resurgence, the now 38-year-old Kreienberg was still in the squad, but was no longer called up. He then ended his career after 85 league games with four hits and 60 second division appearances with five goals.
