Heinrich LXII. Prince Reuss younger line, Count and Lord of Plauen, Lord of Greiz, Kranichfeld, Gera, Schleiz and Lobenstein (born May 31, 1785 in Schleiz ; † June 19, 1854 in Gera ) was from April 17, 1818 to October 1, 1848 Prince of Reuss-Schleiz, then until June 19, 1854, Prince of Reuss younger line (as a union of all sovereign lines of Reuss younger line: Reuss-Schleiz , Reuss-Gera , Reuss-Lobenstein and Reuss-Ebersdorf ).

Life

He studied in Erlangen and Würzburg. During his time as Prince Reuss zu Schleiz, he shared government with the Princes Reuss zu Lobenstein and Ebersdorf over the territory of the earlier Counts of Reuss-Gera.

After the abdication of Prince Heinrich LXXII. Reuss zu Lobenstein and Ebersdorf on October 1, 1848, after 200 years of division, he united all principalities of the younger line of the House of Reuss in his hand with the title of Prince Reuss younger line. Under his government in 1849 the country was given a contemporary constitution. The first constitutional state parliament met in 1851, and in 1852 a revised constitution and a new electoral law with indirect elections were adopted.

He was the eldest son of Heinrich XLII. (1752-1818) and his wife Karoline zu Hohenlohe-Kirchberg (1761-1849) and brother of his successor Heinrich LXVII.

Heinrich LXII. remained unmarried.
